Enabling streaming in My Mpc

My Mpc Stream Player

To stream music from MPD to My Mpc you need to enable streaming in MPD and restart the daemon.
Include the following in your mpd.conf file

audio_output {
    type             "httpd"
    name             "Music on Server"
    encoder "vorbis" # optional, vorbis or lame
    port             "8000"
    bind_to_address  "0.0.0.0"          # optional, IPv4 or IPv6
    quality "5.0" # do not define if bitrate is defined
    #bitrate "128" # do not define if quality is defined
    format           "44100:16:1"
    max_clients      "0"                # optional 0=no limit
    mixer_type       "software"
}

Adjust the settings to your like, notice that My Mpc for Android only plays vorbis streams due to patents.

Restart the server and point the uri field on My Mpc to your server either using ip or hostname (something like "http://192.168.1.1:8000/") and press the play button next to the uri field.

If you have a firewall you must open the port (8000 in this example).

You can stream your music in the Internet, you must redirect the port (8000 in this example) in your modem/router and point My Mpc to your public address if your isp provides you one, using a service like dyndns allows you to use a fixed domain address even if your ip changes.
